Digitized Photographs on the Web

The following is a guide to the digitized collections at the Carnegie Branch Library for Local History, which can be accessed through the Internet.

On the Boulder Public Library Web page, select "Library Catalog," then select "Boulder Public Library."  Using the drop-down arrow button, change the "Keyword" search to "Local Call Number" search, and type in the call number that represents the topic in which you are interested (see list of Call Numbers below):

For example, typing in the number 207 will bring up photos of houses, buildings and structures in Boulder.  (This collection is in alphabetical order by street name, so the streets starting with "A" appear first.)

141 This collection contains panoramic views and photos of everyday events in and around Boulder County, Colorado by local photographer Edwin Tangen, 1906-1936. Tangen also photographed events and scenes in Denver, Jefferson County, Weld County and Wyoming. Each photograph is dated and identified.

Arrangement: by size and type of photograph, then by Tangen's photograph number.

Arrangement: alphabetically by street name and numerically by street number.

   
208 This collection is a photographic record of the way Boulder looked, covering a century from the earliest known photo taken in 1865 through the 1960s, as recorded in panoramic views.

209 This collection is a photographic record of churches and their congregations in Boulder County, covering nearly a century from the 1870s through 1965.This collection includes exteriors, interiors and people.

210 This collection is a photographic record of schools in Boulder County, including structures and students, covering a century from the 1870s through the 1970s.

Arrangement: alphabetically by name of school.

   
211 Photographs of the Bluebird Cottage in Boulder, and the Bluebird Lodge in Gold Hill, Colorado.

212 This collection is a photographic record of the Colorado Chautauqua Association and Chautauqua Park, from its beginnings in 1898 through the 1970s. Photographs include the people, buildings, the tents and cottages and the environs.

213 This collection is a photographic record of Boulder County communities on the plains and in the mountains, covering a century from the 1870s up through the 1970s.

214 This collection is a photographic record of farms, crops, oil fields, locations and life on the plains in Boulder County, covering the 1870s through the 1970s.

215 This collection is a photographic record of scenery in the Rocky Mountains of Boulder County, from the 1870s through the 1970s. One box contains oversize photos. Boulder Canyon -- Boulder Falls -- Mountains -- Lakes -- Recreation -- Barker Dam -- Roads -- Streams -- Falls -- Scenery not in Boulder County.

216 This collection is a photographic record of the Colorado National Guard, Company H, of their participation in the Spanish American War; and of events related to World War I in Boulder, including men being drafted and marching off the Depot to depart to the war, their return at the depot, and Armistice Day parade.

217 This collection is a photographic record of modes of transportation in Boulder, public and private, covering a century from the 1870s up through the 1970s. Included are views of carriages, wagons, stagecoaches, automobiles, bicycles, busses and trucks.

218 This collection is a photographic record of the Switzerland Trail of America, later called the Colorado and Northern Railroad. Photographs show the stages on the route, depots at mountain stations, locomotives and rolling stock. There are also photographs of other railroads in Colorado, including the Moffat Road and Moffat Tunnel.

219 This collection is a photographic record of mines and miners in Boulder County, covering a century from the 1870s through the 1970s. Included are gold, silver, tungsten and coalmines both in the mountains and on the plains.

220 This collection is a photographic record of family photographs of Boulder pioneers, covering a century from the 1860s through the 1940s.
